Fast forward to November 2025, and the numbers have shifted dramatically. Only 49% of Republicans still hold this view, while a surprising 51% now disagree, marking a 20-point improvement in just two years.

The concern about losing manufacturing jobs to China has seemingly softened Republican resistance to EVs. However, deep skepticism remains, with 48% of Republicans expressing doubts about ever buying an EV, compared to just 15% of Democrats.
EVs as a lifestyle statement

A staggering 68% of Republicans believe climate change is over-hyped, while only 7% of Democrats share this view. This ideological divide is further exemplified by brand loyalty. Tesla, a brand often associated with environmentalism, has a favorable view among only 54% of potential EV buyers, compared to 76% for Chevrolet and Cadillac, 88% for Mercedes-Benz, and a remarkable 91% for Toyota.
A surprising supporter: Ram CEO
In a surprising twist, Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Ram Trucks, a brand synonymous with powerful V8 engines, has become an advocate for electrification. In an interview, he praised EVs for their torque, responsiveness, and efficiency, predicting that they will eventually dominate the market.
