The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Local Government Academy (LGA) celebrated their partners' contributions to local governance at the CapDev Accelerator Awards 2025. The event recognized civil society organizations, government institutions, and academic institutions for their sustained collaboration in strengthening local government capacity and advancing the DILG's mission of excellence in local governance.
The Capacity Development Accelerator Awards honored partners whose collaboration has accelerated the DILG's mission and strengthened local government capacity. The awards highlighted the importance of partnerships in delivering effective services at the grassroots level. DILG Undersecretary Marlo Iringan emphasized the significance of these collaborations in responding to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s call for meaningful and sustained partnerships across sectors to reach communities most in need.
The University of the Cordilleras and Mahintana Foundation Incorporated were named the Most Distinguished Kinang and Alab Partners, respectively, for their contributions over one to three years. The Kinang Awardees included the Department of Science and Technology Region 2, University of the Philippines Los Baños College of Human Ecology, and other institutions for their contributions to DILG's organizational outcomes. The Alab Awardees, recognized for more than three years of partnership, included the Council for the Restoration of Filipino Values and other organizations for their contributions to societal outcomes.
The Kislap Award, given to partners with less than a year of collaboration, was awarded to organizations like Kaabag sa Sugbo Foundation and Southern Leyte Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers' Organization for their strong foundations for future engagement. DILG officials, including Assistant Secretary Francisco Cruz and LGA Executive Director Thelma Vecina, attended the ceremony, reinforcing the importance of strong partnerships in building capable local governments and translating national vision into action.
